Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

PLEASE NOTE: At this time the journal’s online registration and submission system is not activated. Please submit your manuscript as an email attachment (Word files only; either .doc or .docx is fine) to scl@unb.ca.

The submission has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted elsewhere for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

All URL addresses in the text (e.g., http://pkp.sfu.ca) are activated and ready to click.

The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

The text, if submitted to a peer-reviewed section (e.g., Articles), has had the authors' names removed. If an author is cited, "Author" and year are used in the bibliography and footnotes, instead of author's name, paper title, etc. The author's name has also been removed from the document's Properties, which in Microsoft Word is found in the File menu.
Author Guidelines

Please do not email your submission as an attached RTF (rich text format) file. Due to security vulnerabilities, the email server system now automatically blocks and deletes emails with .rtf file attachments.
The editors welcome submissions of scholarly articles on any aspect of Canadian literature as well as interviews with contemporary Canadian authors in whom there is an established academic interest. Submissions may be in English or French; articles should be between 6000 and 8000 words (including Notes and Works Cited), and interviews between 4500 and 7000 words.
Submissions are blind-vetted; please ensure that there is no information identifying the author anywhere on the manuscript (including Notes, Acknowledgements, etc.).
References for English-language articles must conform to the MLA Handbook, 8th edition. Articles in French should conform to Le guide du rédacteur (du Bureau de la traduction, 2 éd., Ottawa, 1996).Prospective contributors are encouraged to consult the SCL/ÉLC Style Guide for further details of style and formatting requirements in English or French.

Permissions requests from authors to reprint their work in books or collections authored or edited by the author are granted gratis, with a requirement that acknowledgement of first publication in Studies in Canadian Literature is included in the publication. Permission requests from external sources are charged a fee at the discretion of Studies in Canadian Literature; 50% of this fee is given to the author.
